In the stories below, Sophie, Janiek, and Laurèl share their experiences, what they’ve learned, and why their internship at The Inside has been so valuable to them.
I’m Sophie, a third-year International Creative Business Developer (ICBD) student at Cibap in Zwolle. Creativity plays a big role in everything I do, from drawing and painting to baking and coming up with new ideas. At The Inside, I have the opportunity to combine my creative talents with practical skills that are essential in the stand construction industry.
I chose to do my internship at The Inside because stand construction perfectly aligns with my studies. The process from client research to stand design fits seamlessly with what I’ve been learning in school. The Inside was also recommended to me, and it’s conveniently located.
The part I enjoy most about my internship is designing stands. That’s where I find the biggest challenges and the most satisfaction. Recently, I designed a stand for a medical company that I’m really proud of. During my internship, I have greatly improved my skills in SketchUp and Twinmotion (design software) and gained much more confidence in using these programs.
What makes The Inside special for me is the great balance between focus and fun. Everyone works with concentration, but there’s always room for a chat or a laugh in between. My most important tip for future interns is to be yourself, ask questions, and take initiative. You’ll learn so much if you dare to take that space.
I’m Janiek, a fourth-year Spatial Design student at Cibap. In my free time, I enjoy photography, music, and walks in nature. For my graduation internship, I wanted to try something new and broaden my horizons. That’s why I chose The Inside, a place where I can learn more about the world of stand construction and brand experience.
During my internship, I’ve discovered how branding and spatial design come together in creating unique stands for different companies. It’s inspiring to see how a concept and design idea evolve into a tangible and impressive end result. One of the highlights for me was seeing my showroom design actually being built.
Already in my first week, I realized I was learning more about SketchUp and Twinmotion here than I had in four years at school, which has greatly accelerated my design development. The atmosphere at The Inside is open, professional, and friendly. As an intern, I truly feel part of the team, and there’s always room to discuss ideas or ask for feedback, something I really appreciate.
My advice to future interns is to stay curious, keep asking questions, and embrace feedback. That’s the best way to learn quickly and get the most out of your internship experience.
I’m Laurèl, a third-year International Business student at Saxion University in Deventer, currently interning with the marketing department at The Inside. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano and expressing myself creatively, something I can combine perfectly with my passion for marketing during my internship.
Throughout my internship, I’ve been exploring how marketing comes to life within a creative and dynamic company. I’ve learned how to develop a strategy and translate it into engaging content that fits the brand’s identity. One project I’m especially proud of is the content calendar I created with my supervisor to shape our online marketing strategy for the coming year. This project gave me valuable insights into planning, consistency, and brand communication.
What immediately stood out to me at The Inside is the open, approachable, and relaxed atmosphere. From day one, I felt welcome and truly part of the team. Colleagues are always ready to help, share ideas, and give feedback, something that has greatly supported my learning process.
My advice to future interns is to stay curious, ask questions, and share your ideas. At The Inside, initiative, creativity, and involvement are truly valued. You’re given the space to learn, grow, and make a real contribution, both to the company’s success and to your own personal development.
